Ministry of Electricity and Energy and Six Awarded Companies sign the contract for implementation of National Electrification Plan (C1-W10, C1-W12 and C1-W14)

          Electricity Supply Enterprise under Ministry of Electricity and Energy and Six Awarded Companies signed the contract for implementation of National Electrification Plan to construct Transmission Lines & Transformers for (590) villages in Yangon, Sagaing, Magway, Mandalay, Rakhine, Northern Shan State, Kayin and Mon State which will be implemented by World Bank Loan on 30th April 2019, (11:30) hr at the Meeting Room of MOEE, Office No. (27), Nay Pyi Taw.

          Union Minister for MOEE U Win Khaing, Permanent Secretary U Tin Maung Oo, Departmental Heads, Managing Directors and responsible persons from awarded companies were attended to this Signing Ceremony.

          Firstly, H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing delivered an address that MOEE is attempting targeting to have access to electricity around the country by 2030. MOEE aims to electrify 55 % in 2020-2021, 75% in 2025-2026 and 100 % in 2030-2031. MOEE accepted a loan of US$ 310 millions from World Bank, ADB, JICA and KfW loan and is performing the first phase of NEP, to gain access electricity to 5080 villages within 2 miles far from National Grid. MOEE conducted the International Competitive Bidding-ICB for purchasing transmission line accessories. Now, MOEE and (6) awarded companies have already signed the contract for villages of the first phase of NEP. According to this contract, (20,292) households in Yangon Region will be electrified and electrification rate will be (88.13%). (3,519) households in Sagaing Region will be electrified and electrification rate will be (39.67%). (9,459) households in Magway Region will be electrified and electrification rate will be (30.4%). (480)households in Rakhine State will be electrified and electrification rate will be (21.61%). (1,044) households in Northern Shan State will be electrified and electrification rate will be (32.44%). (4,220) households in Kayin State will be electrified and electrification rate will be (29.9%). (1,332)households in Mon State will be electrified and electrification rate will be (52.1%). (35,742) households in Mandalay Region will be electrified and electrification rate will be (62.21%). Totally (76,088) households will be electrified. Construction work for NEP first phase has started in January, 2019 and 626,757 households of 5,080 villages will get electricity when it finishes. So electrification rate will be promoted about 5.6 %. MOEE then will move to NEP second phase targeting to complete at the end of September, 2021. After completion of NEP projects for first phase within (2)miles and second phase within (5)miles far from National Grid, then it will get electricity about (1,032,411) households of (8,537) villages. And it will be promoted totally about 9.5 % of electrification rate. In 2021, electrification rate will be (55%) in the whole country. And Union Minister instructed responsible persons of MOEE and respective companies to do their best. Moreover, for development of electricity as safe and stability and without electricity shut down, MOEE is trying to perform from single circuit to double circuit for N-1 System and from 1 Source to 2 Source systematically. Furthermore, MOEE is attempting to perform for getting qualified electricity to Myanmar people by various ways and managing for reserved electricity.

          And then, U Saw Win Maung, Managing Director of Electricity Supply Enterprise explained about the future plan of National Electrification Project.

          Finally, U Saw Win Maung, Managing Director of Electricity Supply  Enterprise  and respective persons from (2) companies, Acting Chief Executive Officer of YESC and responsible persons from (2)  companies , Acting Chief Executive Officer of MESC and responsible persons from (3)  companies  signed and exchanged the contract and took group photos.
