          Coordination Meeting for completion works of 2018-2019 fiscal year and future plan of 2019-2020 fiscal year for development of electric sector was held on 21^st October 2019 (08:30) hr at the Meeting Room of Office No. (27), Ministry of Electricity and Energy.

          H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing, H.E. Deputy Minister Dr. Tun Naing, Permanent Secretary U Tin Maung Oo, Departmental Heads and responsible persons were attended to this meeting.

          Firstly, H.E. Union Minister delivered that we discuss about the strong point and weak point of the whole works for previous year, the future plan of the additional production of hydropower and gas turbine power plants in 2020 summer period, system improvement plan of construction works in 2019-2020 fiscal year, the future plan for additional 1000 MW in 2020-2021 fiscal year which are the target of this meeting.  In Myanmar, the peak demand was 3586 MW in 2018 and 3654 MW in 2019. In near future, Myanmar will increase a lot of electricity demand so we, MOEE tries to perform  the maintenance works of transmission lines and substations, to perform the high efficiency of power plants, to renovate the old power plants, to implement LNG to power project with targeted time schedule. MOEE is attempting targeting to have access of electricity by 50 % in the whole country in December, 2019. MOEE aims to reach 75% in 2025-2026 and 100 % in 2030-2031. In Myanmar, the electrification rate was 34% in 2016. MOEE will give the electricity to be 50% of  household  at  the end of 2019. So, the electrification rate will increase 16% within (3) years. This is the goal of our Ministry. Departments, Enterprises and Corporations under MOEE are striving stable and safety electricity distribution for people by following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Another one is that all Departments under MOEE need to make work plan for construction works. All departments need to perform targeted work plan and use the budget carefully in time. Moreover, all Departments need to follow tender instruction (1/2017) carefully for tender competition process. Because of higher electricity rates, MOEE needs to emphasize in service works and take care of safety and safeguard for fire burning. And then, MOEE needs to perform capacity building for development of human resources.

          After that, U Tin Maung Oo, Permanent Secretary of MOEE explained the strong point and weak point of the whole works for 2018-2019 fiscal year. And then, representatives of all Departments, Enterprises and Corporations also explained their works. Finally, Deputy Minister Dr. Tun Naing discussed and Union Minister instructed the needs of works on their explanations.
