Opening Ceremony of 66 kV Yarzagyo-Kalay-Kalewa Power Line 48.96 miles and 66/11 kV, 5 MVA Kalewa Substation

          Opening ceremony of 66 kV Yarzagyo-Kalay-Kalewa power line 49.96 miles and 66/11 kV, 5 MVA Kalewa substation under Department of Power Transmission and System Control was held Kalewa substation in Sagaing Region on 10-2-2019 at 08:30am.

          In this ceremony, Union Minister H.E. U Win Khaing for Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Regional Chief Minister Dr Myint Naing, Sagaing Regional Hluttaw Speaker U Than, Deputy Minister H.E. Dr. Tun Naing for Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Sagaing Regional Hluttaw representatives, Local people and Guest were attended.

          Union Minister H.E. U Win Khaing revealed that National development is concerned with sufficient electricity , so ministry is striving the distribution of sufficient electricity all over the country and performed the distribution of sufficient electricity to Sagaing Region from national grid. Previously, (3) quarters of Kalewa, (2) surrounded villages and (1761) households were distributed 4 hour per day by (2) generators  which  installed capacity are  800 kVA and 340 kVA.            Ministry of Electricity and Energy implemented 60 kV Yarzagyo-Kalay-Kalewa  power line 48.96 miles and 66 kV Kalewa substation which was started in 2016-2017 fiscal year intend to distribute the electricity to Kalewa township from the generation electricity of Yarzagyo  hydropower plant  connecting  with the national grid. Yarzagyo-Kalay portion (24.4) miles was finished at 7-6-2018 and connected with 230 kV Kalay substation and Yarzagyo hydropower plant.

          Kalay-Kalewa portion (24.56) miles was finished at 30-1-2019 and send the electricity to 66 kV Kalewa  substation, in order to distribute 24 hours electricity to the Kalewa township and  surrounding  villages. The construction of 66 kV Yarzagyo-Kalay- Kalewa  power line (48.96) miles and 66/11kV, 5MVA Kalewa substation were  carried  out  using over Ks(9914) million.          Therefore, electricity was more distributed than previously in  Sagaing  Region, Kalay District. In Sagaing Region, Residential (38.47)MW, Industrial(52.33)MW, totally (90.7)MW was electrified in 2015, and Residential (84.98)MW, Industrial (123.82)MW was more electrified in 2018.

          Moreover, Industrial projects such as Ta-gaung Nickel factory, Zun Medical factory, Wanpaung Mining Enterprise ,Yansi Mining Enterprise, Textile factory (Sagaing) and river-pumping project based on Sagaing  resources are distributing  electricity.

          Currently, (50) townships and (1823) villages  are  electrified by national grid and (3197) villages are  electrified by other ways in Sagaing Region. For getting electricity of (90) remaining villages are implementing by Union Budget, Regional Budget, World Bank Loan, ADB Loan,  JICA Loan in  fiscal year 2018-2019. Currently  power consumption is (427569) (39%) households and upgrading power consumption is  59% in 2020-2021 and 75% in 2025-2026 from national grid among Sagaing households (1096857).

          The ministry has performed 66 kV Kalewa-Mawlaik  power line which will finish in 2021 to distribute electricity to Mawloik area.

          The ministry will  construct  230 kV power line and relevant  substation which will distribute electricity to Tamu and Homalin area from 230 kV Kalay substation. Previously,  middle and  southern  Myanmar have been distributed electricity by 230 kV power line  from most power plants  existing in  Northern Myanmar.

          System  Breakdown  will  be  occurred the situation of full load and Line fault , so  500 kV  power line and substation projects are building separating in level. After  completing  500 kV power line and substation project,  national grid will be stabled  and  distribute  full voltage  electricity. Currently, electrification yearly demand   is  rising up to (19%) and  ministry is  managing to fulfill yearly demand (394) MW in 2018-2019 , 45 MW in 2019-2010, (1712)MW in 2020-2021, totally (2556)MW.

          Electrified households are (4.709) million (43%) in November 2018 and remaining unelectrified households are (6.168) million (57%) among (10.877) households.

          Ministry is managing to get electrified households  (55%) in March 2021 by using international Loan, Union  Budget, State and  Division  Budget.

          Ministry wants  to help the  public  performance of getting  electricity  all over the country in 2030  for the  development of the nation.        Continuously, Regional Chief Minister Dr. Myint Naing  explained  the  implementation conditions and  performance of  enhancement distribution electricity in  Sagaing  Region.

          And then,  Hluttaw Speaker H.E. U Than,  Deputy  Minister  H.E. Dr Tun Naing, Regional Minister of Electricity , Industrial and communication U Than Nyunt Win, Pyithu Hluttaw Delegation U Than Tun Myint and Amyotha Hltttaw Delegation U Ko Ko Naing of  Kalewa  township cut the  ceremonial  ribbon  to  formally open and posed for a commemorative group photo.

          And then, Union Minister H.E. U Win Khaing and Regional Chief Minister switched  on the  commemorative  stone and sprayed the fragrance to 66/11 kV, 5 MVA Kalewa substation and  inspected the  control room  and switchyard.

          Ministry  has  been  24 hours electrified  to Kalewa Township from  national grid,  so regional people were feeling happy.
