A ceremony regarding 66 kV Pathein - Ngwe Saung Transmission Line (14.92 miles) and 66/11 kV, 5 MVA Ngwe Saung Substation implemented by Department of Electric Power Transmission and System Control under Ministry Of Electricity and Energy was held at Ngwe Saung Substation, Ayeyawaddy Region on 24th March, 2019 (09:00) hr.
Union Minister H.E. U Win Khaing, U Aung Kyaw Khine, Speaker of Ayeyawaddy Region Hluttaw, Deputy Minister H.E. Dr. Tun Naing, Regional Government Ministers, Representatives of Amyothar Hluttaw, Pyithu Hluttaw and Regional Hluttaw, Departmental Heads and local people were attended to the ceremony.
At first, H.E. Union Minister delivered an address that MOEE constructed 230 kV Ah Thoke - Pathein Transmission Line (31 miles) and 230/66/11 kV, 100 MVA Pathein Substation in 2015 for development of electricity in Ayeyawaddy Region. And then, MOEE has started construction of 66 kV Pathein - Ngwe Saung Transmission Line (14.92 miles) and 66/11 kV, 5 MVA Ngwe Saung Substation from 2016-2017 Fiscal Year and completed on 21st December, 2018 which is transmitting to 66 kV Ngwe Saung Substation. In Ayeyawaddy Region, there are (8,313) households, among these households, (532) households are already electrified. MOEE has used (5,499) million kyats for completion of these transmission line and substation.
Currently, the maximum demand in National Grid is (3,600) MW so MOEE has tried to perform the progress percentage of current use annually from 15 to 19 %. In Ayeyawaddy Region, electricity demand was (89) MW in 2015 and now (116) MW. There are (45) towns in this Region, (41)towns use electricity from Power System. Moreover, 1000 villages use electricity from Power System and (5,546) villages from other facilities (e.g, generator) among (11,864) villages. In this Region, there are (1,488,983) households. Among these households, (267, 333) households have already electrified so electrification ratio is (18 %). In 2020-2021 electrification ratio will be (50 %), in 2025-2026 electrification ratio will be (75 %). Moreover, MOEE is performing to construct LNG Power Project (1390) MW in Meelaunggyine, Ayeyarwaddy Region for development of electricity.
In Ayeyarwaddy Region, MOEE is managing to construct 230 kV Minhla-Hinthada- Ah Thoke Transmission line (83 miles) and Hinthada Substation, 230 kV Hintada-Myanaung-Okeshitpin Transmission line (205 miles) and Myanaung Substation for transmission to Hinthada and Myanaung township.
MOEE is now performing 66/11 kV, additional 20 MVA in Ngwe Saung Substation for development of tourism. In previous year, the guests are (201,320) Nos and now (251,352)Nos. so (24%) is increased. MOEE is also performing 500 kV transmission line (5)Nos. instead of 230 kV transmission line which are over loaded for electricity distribution not only for development of socio- economic life of local people in the whole country but also for the local and foreign investment development.
In Myanmar, 4.79 million (44.1 %) among 10.877 million households have gained access to electricity in December, 2018. It is still necessary to get electricity for the rest households (6.087 million, 55.9 %). MOEE has an aim to electrify 55 % of Myanmar’s households from power system in March, 2021. The Government is dynamically implementing to meet the desire electricity for the whole country in 2030. MOEE will perform as priority in electric sector carefully and local people are urged to try in the same way.
And then, U Win Htay, Minister for Electricity, Industry and Transportation of Ayeyawaddy Region explained the current status and future plan of electricity distribution in Ayeyawaddy Region. Following that U Kyin Shwe, local resident of Ngwe Saung expressed his words of thank at the event.
And then, Union Minister H.E. U Win Khaing unveiled the memorial for 66/11 kV, 5 MVA Ngwe Saung substation and U Aung Kyaw Khine, Speaker of Ayeyawaddy Region Hluttaw pressed a button and sprayed the perfume over the memorial.
Finally, Deputy Minister H.E. Dr. Tun Naing, U Win Htay, Minister for Electricity, Industry and Transportation of Ayeyawaddy Region, U Ngwe Hlaing Tun, Representative of Pyithu Hluttaw in Pathein, U Soe Moe, Representative of Amyothar Hluttaw, U Aung Thu Htwe and Daw Zin Moe War, Representatives of Regional Hluttaw opened the event with a ribbon-cutting for this substation, took group photos and observed the control room and switchyard of this substation.
