  • Nowadays, 500kV Transmission Line stringing ceremony is an auspicious ceremony because it is the country's first project for 500kV Transmission Line.
  • This project is aimed to provide more distribution in the future demand for electricity use.
  • MOEE has conducted and emphasized rehabilitation for substations and power plants, construction of new power plants, extension of transmission lines and substations so that to supply full power in accordance with annual requirements.
  • There are much electricity losses, fully load transmission lines and system breakdown due to transmit from generation area to users of electricity by maximum 230 kV transmission lines.
  • Therefore, Back Bone, 500 kV transmission lines were built.
  • At current situation, electricity is transmitted and distributed from generation area to users by 230kV and 132kV transmission lines.
  • It is conducting to become better and more reliable (N Minus One Criterion) system and the outbreak of the sins of the power line transmission via power line, which power can continuously distribute by 230 kV, 132 kV, 66 kV Ring System from generation power plants to users.
  • Moreover, in order to strength on the power system, 500 kV power transmission line is implementing dividing to stages such as Eastern Grid, Western Grid, Northern Grid, Southern Grid and  Central Grid.
  • After 500kV Kankaung (Meiktila) – Saparkyawe (Taungoo) Transmission Line stringing has been processed, the electricity from the power plant in northern Myanmar can transmit to southern and central Myanmar with a few losses in power system, reduce the shortages (System Breakdown) and stable the power system more and more.
  • The first phase of the 500kV Kankaung (Meiktila) – Saparkyawe (Taungoo) Transmission Line has been implemented in 2014.
  • The 500kV Transmission Line route was searched by the ministry's Civil engineers according to AF Consultant’s recommendations and the foundation work and pillar operations were built by outside companies.
  • The 500kV Transmission Line stringing would be carried out and completed within (18) months by CEEC and SEPCO, the tender successful companies in accordance with international standards.
  • Nowadays, the maximum demand in power system is approximately 3,600 MW and annual electricity demand increase up to 15% ~ 19% so that it is scheduled to be produced according to requirements.
  • It is being processing to improve the production and distribution by current operating hydroelectric power plants, Natural gas power plants and solar power plants to be built in the near future, as well as LNG plant.
  • 500kV Kankaung (Meiktila) – Saparkyawe (Taungoo) Transmission Line was built for transmission further increased electricity .
  • In addition, 500kV Saparkyawe (Taungoo) - Phayagyi Transmission Line (117 miles) by Korean Exim Bank loans, 500 kV Phayagyi – Hlaingthayar Transmission Line (60 miles) and substation construction projects by Japan ODA JICA loan will be implemented in the near future.
  • In 2018 December, just 44 % of households (4.74 million households) in the country had access to electricity and 56% of households (approximately 6.15 million households) are remaining.
  • In order to fulfill the desire electricity, MOEE is attempting using external loans as well as union budget and Region /State budget.
  • Therefore, at the end of 2019, 50% of all households in the country will access to electricity and in March, 2021, about 55 percent of all households in the country are planning to get the electricity from the power system. And then, in 2030, the whole country is planning to get the electricity from the power system.

And then, the responsible person from the CEEC Company explained and presented about 500kV Kankaung (Meiktila) – Saparkyawe (Taungoo) Transmission Line stringing (146 miles) plan.

And then, Union Minister U Win Khaing  pressed the button and opened Tensioner Switch as a beginning commemoration of  500kV Kankaung (Meiktila) – Saparkyawe (Taungoo) Transmission Line stringing (146 miles) and then H.E. and responsible persons sprinkled scented water to Running Board.

And then, Union Minister and responsible persons inspected the condition of 500kV Transmission Line stringing and observed in display room the items would be used for the construction of the project.
