Dr. Tun Naing , Deputy Minister for Ministry of Electricity and Energy inspects Phyu Chaung Hydropower plant in Phyu Township, Bago Region

          Dr. Tun Naing, Deputy Minister for Ministry of Electricity and Energy accomplished by departmental heads inspected Phyu Chaung Hydropower Plant built on Phyu Chaung far about (7) miles south-west of Phyu, Phyu Township, Bago Region in the morning on 1st August, 2019.

          Firstly, Deputy Minister Dr. Tun Naing inspected the overall prepared status of machines. General Manager and responsible persons from Electric Power Generation Enterprise explained step-by-step testing of the power machine. Deputy Minister ordered to continuously check to be strong the power machine, to seriously perform for electricity safety and fully generation, to attempt for long-term existence of power plant, to systematically operate in deleting failed equipment from the list in accordance with the procedures and to be auctioned, to be carefully operate and then inspected the control room and the preparation in the switchyard for electricity supply.

            Then, Deputy Minister and his entourage inspected the incoming water into the dam, water storage, power intake and spillway. Executive Engineer U Khin Maung Lwin from Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department reported the current firmness of Phyu Chaung Dam and related buildings. Then deputy minister asked wanted to know. Then coordinated and filled the requirements.

          Phyu Chaung Hydropower plant was built on Phyu Chaung far about 7 miles south-west of Phyu, Phyu Township, Taungoo District, Bago Region. The total installed capacity is 40MW with two Fransic Turbines (20 MW ). According to the design, the generation per year is 120 kWhr and this power plant was started to build in 2001 and completed in 2014. The electricity generated from this power plant connects, transmits and supplies to national grid via 230kV Taungoo - Phyu Chaung - Kun Chaung - Tharyarkone Transmission line.  The machinery parts of the power machine broke down because they were fired due to flash over from high voltage on 30th September, 2017. So, the two power machines stopped due to the lack of electricity generation. The expected engineers and the electricity expected staffs tried to replace these failed machinery parts and regenerate as fast as possible. Now, the machinery parts have been already installed, tested and driven, so it will generate and supply electricity within a few days.
