Signing Ceremony for Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between Ministry of Electricity and Energy and Powergen Kyaukse Company Limited

The signing ceremony for Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between Electric Power Generation Enterprise under Ministry of Electricity and Energy and Powergen Kyaukse Company limited was held on 6th November, 2018 in the evening ,06:00 pm , at Hilton Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw.
H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing, Union Attorney-General U Tun Tun Oo , members of Pyithu Hluttaw Electricity and Energy Development Committee and Amyotha Hluttaw Construction, Industry, Electricity and Energy Development Committee, Deputy Minister Dr. Tun Naing, Permanent Secretary U Tin Maung Oo, Director Generals, Managing Directors and responsible persons, U Maung Kyae, Powergen Kyaukse Company limited and his members were attended to this ceremony.
Union Minister delivered that MOEE is making efforts for development of electricity in near future. There are three parts(1) generation (2) transmission from generation to consumers in ways of not only cheap tariff rate but also lowest losses (3) Distribution to consumers not only cheap price but also good qualities. The current electricity demand in Myanmar is 4500 MW but generation is about 3300 MW so need to fill electricity demand. It will need additional 3000 MW in 2020-2021 fiscal years. The new government’s is targeting to generate electricity in accord with demand. Power generation mix consisting various resources takes pivotal role to be reliable power. Now power generation mix in Myanmar is hydropower and domestic natural gas and the future will be solar power plants and LNG power plants. The project of Belin (145)MW power plants will consume 30 MMCFD of domestic Shwe natural gas, to supply electricity in a short term before 2019 summer. So it is signed to purchase electric power generated from Belin (145) MW power plant, between EPGE under MOEE and Powergen Kyaukse Co., Ltd. Belin (145)MW power plant is situated at Belin Area , Kyaukse District, Mandalay Region . It is guaranteed to generate (145) MW. The power would be generated from this plant is being distributing to Kyaukse and Mandalay area and surroundings. It is connecting to national grid via Belin primary substation and one of the supplier for national development . And then, U Maung Kyae, Managing Director of Powergen Kyaukse Co., Ltd delivered thankful remarks. Finally, U Khin Maung Win, Managing Director of Electric Power Generation Enterprise and U Maung Kyae, Managing Director of Powergen Kyaukse Co., Ltd signed and exchanged the PPA and took group photos all together.
Belin (145) MW power plant is situated in 230 kV Belin primary substation, Sintgaing Township , Kyaukse District, Mandalay Region . Powergen Kyaukse Co., Ltd is an organization composing local entrepreneur and foreign investment company, this power plant has started to construct since May, 2018 by IPP and BOO system and it will run into operation in February, 2019. Total installed capacity is (147.768)MW(18.471 MW x 8 Nos ) and guaranteed generated power is 145 MW. So designed annual generation is 1020 million kWh . It is a project which will supply national electricity demand.
