H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing for MOEE accompanied by Dr. Aung Moe Nyo , Chief Minister for Government of Magway Region, Deputy Minister Dr. Tun Naing, U Myint Zaw, Magway Region Minister for Natural Resources, Environment, Electricity & Energy and Departmental Heads inspected Mone Chaung Hydropower Plant situated in Saytotetayar Township and Kyi Ohn Kyi Wa Hydropower Plant situated in Pwint Phyu Township in Magway Region on 18th May, 2019.
Plant Managers of Mone Chaung and Kyi Ohn Kyi Wa Hydropower Plant presented the current status of these power plants, annual production, current status of inflow into dams, electricity distribution by connecting with national grid and maintenance for turbine and generators for these plants. And then, U Khin Maung Win, Managing Director of EPGE made additional explanation on above items. According to their explanations, Union Minister instructed that as these Hydropower Plants situated on Mone Chaung which are maintaining by Ministry of Agricultural, Livestock and Irrigation are not only for accepting water for summer and rainy paddy but also for operating turbines and generators for electricity distribution. Hydropower Plants are very important for people so MOEE staffs have to cooperate with Department of Irrigation without major impact for Myanmar people. And then, MOEE staffs have to operate carefully, always to inspect the maintenance of turbine and generators, to cooperate between each other basically skillful works and to maintain these turbines & generators for long term stability. After that, Union Minister and his companions inspected control room and turbine room in hydropower plants regarding current status of electricity distribution, water inflow into dams, storage of water as well as intake and spillway.
Even though the installed capacity of Mone Chaung Hydropower Plant is (75) MW and Kyi Ohn Kyi Wa Hydropower Plant is (74) MW, due to hot weather in summer and less amount of storage water in dams, Mone Chaung Hydropower Plant generates(16) MW and Kyi Ohn Kyi Wa Hydropower Plant generates (14) MW and transmit electricity to National Grid nowadays.
