H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing meets the Chairman and members of Head Office of Pa'O Self - Administered Zone

H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing met the Chairman and members of Head Office of Pa'O Self - Administered Zone in Taunggyi District, Southern Shan State on 2nd March, 2018 in the morning.
First, Union Minister discussed how much electricity distribution is important for Ministry of Electricity and Energy and underlined that current situation of electricity production is (3000) MW. And next (3000) MW will be needed to produce within the next (2) or (3) years. According to the guidance of Myanmar Government and policy of Ministry, MOEE is managing necessary arrangements to produce about 3000 MW within the next (3) years. In accordance with the work program, after completion of medium scale projects, MOEE can get about (3000) MW as much as next (42) months. On the other side, MOEE is implementing hydropower projects, solar projects and LNG power projects. MOEE targets that LNG power project (1230) MW in Kanbauk, Dawei Township and (1390) MW in Meelaung Gyaing, Ayeyarwaddy Region will run into work in the next (3) years. In near future, MOEE will conduct necessary arrangements to upgrade 230 kV to 500 kV Transmission Line for stable and strong electricity distribution. In addition to this, MOEE will also renovate the low efficiency of long time natural gas power station. MOEE have to consider LNG Power Project for fulfil voltage of electricity within the next (3) years. Regarding the current electricity demand, MOEE considers to purchase LNG from foreign country as short term period. But MOEE will reduce purchasing of LNG as long term period when local natural gas can be produced economically in the future.
Later, U Khun San Lwin, chairman of Head Office of Pa'O Self - Administered Zone explained the progress of transmission lines, Sub-stations and current situation and future plan of electricity distribution in Pa'O Self - Administered Zone. H.E. coordinated the needs of work. Then Union Minister and his delegation arrived to 132 kV Taunggyi Primary Sub-station and inspected Switch Yard in this Sub-station.
