MOEE hold Workshop & Presentation regarding Lemro

Feasibility Study Report

          Presentation & Workshop regarding Feasibility Study Report for Lemro (1) Hydropower Project was held at M Gallary Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw , on 8th March, 2018 in the morning.

          H.E. U Win Khaing, Union Minister for MOEE, Deputy Minister Dr. Tun Naing, U Salai Isaac Khen, Chin State Minister for Energy, Electricity and Municipality, Permanent Secretary U Tin Maung Oo, Director Generals, Managing Directors, Departmental Heads of MOEE, H.E. Mr. Oliver RICHARD, French Ambassador for the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and personal concerns, responsible persons from TRACTEBEL ENGINEERING S.A., ENGIE Group, FASEP Club Guests of French which would conduct bilateral cooperation for Lemro (1) Hydropower Project were attended to this workshop.

          According to the agenda, Union Minister U Win Khaing delivered the opening address that MOEE has been generating more and more electricity increasing 15% every year based on hydro, natural gas and renewable energy resources. As current generation is about 3000 MW, it will need to generate 6000 MW in coming 2021.

          MOEE has signed notice to proceed for 4 LNG Power Projects to produce electricity for short to medium term due to lack of Natural Gas. Among these projects, it includes the construction works of Transmission Line together with Gas Turbine for 1320 MW LNG to Power Project in Kan Pauk, Dawei District.

          Total Company which would implement bilateral cooperation for these LNG projects has been performing the largest investment in Crude Oil and natural gas sector of Myanmar since 20 years ago. Lemro (1) Hydropower Project which would be bilaterally cooperated with French companies, is vital for development of Chin and Rakhine States. Thus, on behalf of Myanmar Government, MOEE thanks French companies.

          H.E. Mr. Oliver RICHARD , French Ambassador for the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and responsible person from ENGIE Glow delivered the Keynote Speech on friendly cooperation in  Electricity and Energy Sectors.

          The responsible person from TRACTEBEL ENGINEERING S.A. explained and discussed the status of investigation works for Lemro (1) and Lemro (2) Hydropower Projects and took the time for group photo section.

          And then, the participants exchanged views each other. The workshop will be held 2 days from 8-3-2018 to 9-3-2018.
