Electric Power Generation Enterprise and Gold Energy Co., Ltd sign the Sixth Signing Ceremony for Power Purchase Agreement

  

        Electric Power Generation Enterprise under MOEE and Gold Energy Co., Ltd signed the Sixth Signing Ceremony for Power Purchase Agreement on 28th March, 2018, (18:30) hr at Horizon Lake View Resort Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw.          Union Minister for Ministry of Electricity & Energy U Win Khaing, Union Minister for Ministry of Commence Dr. Than Myint , Union Minister for  Ministry of Construction U Han Zaw, Chairman of Electricity and Energy Development Committee (Pyithu Hluttaw) U Kyi Moe Naing and Secretary U Aung  Zaw Myint, Deputy Minister  Dr. Tun Naing for MOEE, Permanent Secretary U Tin Maung Oo, Departmental Heads and Chairman of Gold Energy Co., Ltd U Tun Myint Naing and responsible persons were presented.

          First, H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing said that this Power Purchase Agreement means for purchasing electricity from Thaukyegut (2) Hydropower Plant and this ceremony is the Sixth Signing Ceremony for Power Purchase Agreement between EPGE and Gold Energy Co.,Ltd. Thaukyegut  (2) Hydropower Plant is located on Thaukyegut  Chaung near Taungoo Township in Bago Region and it is the first project based on Build, Operate and Transfer (B.O.T)system. Installed capacity of the Thaukyegut (2) Hydropower Plant is (120) MW and designed annual generation is (604) Millon kWh. It is one of power plants in Sittaung River Basin and important for Yangon Region as well as near. For reliable and qualified electricity, this power plant and other plants are very important. Many socio-economic developments such as construction of village to village roads, performance  of electrification works for local villages as well as new Platwa Bridge (L-800' , B-38' , H-120') were constructed by Gold Energy Co., Ltd. Nowadays, MOEE cooperates with many local entrepreneurs  for many JV/ BOT projects. MOEE performs generation mix with financial and business model as well as demand and supply balance. MOEE cooperates with three international companies for LNG to Power Project as base load (3000) MW. These projects intend to fulfill power demand in 2021 as reserved power. Regarding to geological condition of Myanmar, MOEE has a plan on electricity trading with other neighboring countries and to distribute electricity with reasonable price. So, MOEE performs additional grid system and renovation works with local entrepreneurs and foreign investment companies. The aim of MOEE is to produce electricity with reasonable price and less social impact for consumers. MOEE is working hard to produce sustainable electricity for Myanmar people in the future.

          Later, U Khin Maung Win, Managing Director of Electric Power Generation Enterprise and U Tun Myint Naing, Chairman of Gold Energy Co., Ltd signed and exchanged the Sixth Power Purchase Agreement following taking group photos.
