As over 40 miles river water at upper Made' Island Deep Water Port, Kyaukphyu Township, was changing into petroleum oil colour, Kyaukphyu Daily news facebook disclosed that there were lack of fishes and prawns due to wasting petroleum washing water from an oil tanker on 26-7-2018.
Based on that news, Kyaukphyu District General Administrator, Township General Administrator, responsible person from Myanmar Port Authority, No.(2) State Hluttaw representative, Forest Officer, Delegations from MOGE and responsible person from SEAOP inspected Pentawnkawe river water area of Made' Island Deep Water Port on 28-7-2018 in the morning (9:30).
It is situated about 51/2 miles far from Made' Port and have to drive near 40 miles upstream by ship but is not on the route of oil tanker. When arrived to Pentawnkawe river water area, they found that the colour of river water is different from other place, Therefore, District General Administrator ordered to stop the ship and inspected the water.
Then he said as there was no smell and gasification of oil, it cannot be petroleum oil. There may be something happening under sea water and it needs to take and send to State Laboratory to make analysis. Similarly, Port Authority said it was not Petroleum Oil at all according to his experience.
Then, while District General Administrator and No.2 State Hluttaw Representative asked the local fishermen near there, they said that they can catch fishes and prawns and work is convenient. So, the news shown on Kyaukphyu Daily news facebook was not true.
