Opening Ceremony of 230 kV Hlinethaya-Kyaiklat power line 52.26 miles long and 230/66/11 kV, 100 MVA  Kyaiklat sub-station

17 November 2018

Opening ceremony of 230 kV Hlinethaya-Kyaiklat power line 52.26 miles long and 230/66/11 kV 100 MVA Kyaiklat substation was held Kyaiklat sub-station in Ayeyawady Region on 17-11-2018 at 09:00 am.

In this ceremony, Union Minister H.E. U Win Khaing for Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Regional Chief Minister U Hla Moe Aung, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun, Deputy Minister H.E. Dr. Tun Naing for Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Ayeyawady Region Hluttaw representatives, Local people and Guest were attended.

Union Minister H.E. U Win Khaing revealed that the laying of the 52.26 miles long 230 kV Hlinethaya-Kyaiklat power line was part of the construction of the 230/66/11 kV (100) MVA and 66/33 KV (30) MVA Kyaiklat main sub-station, which will provide sufficient electricity to Maubin, Kyaiklat, Dedaye, Pyapon, Bogale and Mawlamyinegyun in the eastern part of Ayeyawady Region, which was carried out by the State with US$ 42.9 million and Ks 12.9 billion. Construction of the 230 kV Hlinethaya-Kyaiklat power line and Kyaiklat main sub-station was started in fiscal year 2014-2015.

In addition, the electrification of Nat Ye Dwin, Talot Htaw, Takupon and Ma Se Sate villages in Kawhmu Township was completed. Project materials were transported over land and water, while river crossing towers were constructed in places that were far from roads. Therefore, power lines over the rivers were successfully laid, despite the many difficulties.

Due to these efforts, starting 28 June 2018, electricity had been transmitted to Kyaiklat sub-station via 230 kV Hlinethaya-Kyaiklat national power gridline. In the past, townships in the eastern part of Ayeyawady Region were supplied with electricity through the 230 kV Kanaung (Hlinethaya) main sub-station, 33 kV Twantay-Kawhmu-Kungyangon and 33 kV Nyaung Kon-Maubin lines. The power lines were about 90 miles long and resulted in voltage drops causing insufficient electricity in the Pyapon, Bogale and Mawlamyinegyun regions. Now, full voltage can be used as electricity for Maubin, Kyaiklat and Pyapon, which was distributed from the Kyaiklat sub-station, reducing the load at Hlinethaya sub-station, as well as enabling more distribution of electricity into Yangon Region. 230/66/11 kV, 100 MVA was mounted intend to give full voltage of electricity in eastern part of Ayeyawady Region. 66/33 kV, 30 MVA transformer was extra mounted, which will provide sufficient electricity to Kyaiklat township and surrounded areas were connected with the National Grid. Continuous plans are constructed such as 66 kV Kyaiklat-Pyapon-Bogale-Mawlamyinegyun,Dedaye and Maubin substations in order to distribute the electricity from the load of 230/66/11 kV, 100 MVA transformer. When it is completed, electricity that is required in these cities and surrounded area can be provided from the National Grid.

Plans are underway to construct a LNG to 1390 MW power station in Ayewayady Region. It will be largest in Myanmar, and when it is completed, electricity that is required in the Region can be provided. It is one of the projects that will support the country’s  power system, said the Union Minister.

MOEE implemented types of energy resource and way to generate sufficient electricity all over the nation and to distribute the electricity form the grid for development of Ayeyawady Region. In the past, Ayeyawady Region were supplied with 66 kV Pyay-Myanaung-Hinthata-Pathein double circuit power line.  230 kV Hlaingthaya - Athoak power line, 230/33/11 kV, 100 MVA Athoak substation, 66/11 kV Pathein, Yakyi Hinthata substation, 230 kV Athoak-Pathein power line 30.26 miles long and 230/66/11 kV, 2 x 50 MVA Pahein substation were started in 2005. All these project were completed in 2016, so western part of Ayeyawady Rgion were distributed full voltage of electricity more than in the past. Ayeyawady region consists of 44 townships and 11908 villages. In the past, 39 townships and 6697 villages were supplied with electricity. Nowadays, 44 townships and 6823 villages were supplied with electricity. Continuously, MOEE will manage the electrification ratio up to 50 % in 2021 in Ayeyawady region.

Government is emphasizing the developments of socio-economic life, small and medium Industry based on agriculture , opportunity & individual income of nationality by using electricity.
