Ceremony of   66 kV Mogaung-Phakant Transmission Line (55.03) miles  and transmitting to 66/11 kV, 10 MVA Phakant Substation

           A ceremony regarding 66 kV Mogaung-Phakant Transmission Line (55.03) miles and transmitting electricity to 66/11 kV, 10 MVA Phakant Substation was held at Mogaung Substation, Kachin State on 9th Jan, 2019 (13:00)hr.

          H.E. U Win Khaing Union Minister for MOEE, H.E. Deputy Minister Dr. Tun Naing, Chairman & Secretary of Electricity & Energy Development Committee, Secretary & Committee Members of Construction, Industry, Electricity & Energy Development Committee of Amyothar Hluttaw, Government Ministers of Kachin State, Departmental Heads and Local People were attended to the Ceremony.

          At first, H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing delivered an  address that as MOEE is performing for development of electricity in the whole country such as generation, transmission and distribution systematically, 66 kV Mogaung-Phakant Transmission Line (55.03) miles and 66/11 kV, 10 MVA Phakant Substation were started to construct in 2014-2015 Fiscal Year and used 7.8 Billion Kyats. In Kachin State, the electricity demand was (13) MW in 2011-2012. Nowadays, the electricity demand is (43) MW. In Kachin State, there are (2314) villages in (30) towns, (4) district. Among (2314) villages, (1314) villages have already electrified. And then, there are (269,365) households in Kachin State. Among these households, (144,122) households have already electrified. And it is promoted totally about 53.5 % of electrification ratio. The Government is performing generating electricity not only for towns and villages but also villages far from national grid by Decentralization System using small hydropower and solar system. For additional electricity usage in Putao Township, MOEE had already implemented Upper Nam Htwan Hydropower Project and inaugurated this power plant on 9th Jan, 2019 in the morning. In Kachin State, MOEE used (28.95) Billion Kyats for completion  of transmission lines and substations. And MOEE will be used (99.264) MUSD and (12.33) Billion Kyats for ongoing transmission lines and substations. Ministry of Electricity and Energy is striving generating electricity to fulfill industrial and local demand, so that there are 3483 MW of maximum electricity generation, 2400 MW from 28 Hydropower Plants and 1083 MW from 16 Thermal Power Industries. Moreover, the progress percentage of current use annually is about 15 ~ 19 % so that the annually demand is estimated to be 4531 MW in (2020 ~ 2021). In Myanmar, 4.55 million (41.82 %) of 10.89 million households have gained access to electricity in August, 2018. It is still necessary to get electricity for the rest households (6.33 million, 58.18%). MOEE aims to electrify 55 % of Myanmar’s households from power system in March, 2021.  The Government is dynamically implementing to meet usage of electricity for the whole country in 2030. MOEE will emphasize in maintaining these transmission lines and substations carefully. Local people in Kachin State  are urged to try to in the same way.

          After that, U Win Nyunt, Minister for Transportation, Electricity and Industry of Kachin  State explained about the transmission of 66 kV Mogaung-Phakant Transmission Line (55.03) miles and 66/11 kV, 10 MVA Phakant Substation. And then, U Kham Kawn, local resident of Mogaung Township and Daw Maram Nam Baut, local resident of Phakant Township were expressed words of thanks to all.

          After that, H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing pressed the button for transmitting electricity to 66/11 kV, 10 MVA Phakant Substation and took group photos.
