H.E. U Win Khaing, Union Minister for Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Tun Naing, Deputy Minister for Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Permanent Secretary U Tin Maung Oo and departmental responsible persons inspected the condition of Upper Yeywa Hydropower project implemented by No. (3) construction under Department of Hydropower Implementation on Dotehtawaddy River (Myitnge River) for about 20 miles from Kyaukme Township, Shan state (North) in the morning on 4th May, 2019.
Firstly, H.E. Union Minister and his entourage observed the project model. Then at the briefing hall, Director General U Chit Toe and Director (Construction) U Nay Lin reported about the project data, the implementation status of main operation of project and ongoing plan. Responsible persons from IPGRB Co.,Ltd which was awarded international tender regarding tunnel design drawing and construction reported about the implementing status of project. H.E. Union Minster instructed to be finished and met the standards within the defined budget year, to be safe in the project area, to meet the equipment with the standards, to use tools systematically and equip instruments in defined quality, to carefully operate, not to waste finance and to watch the potential hazards while implementing the project. And H.E. Union Minister inspected the main dam, digging soil/ stone and firming operation and the project operation via the briefing hall. Then, H.E. Union Minister inspected the entrance of Tunnel No.1 and construction status of Tunnel No.2, the operation for tunnel firming. The responsible person explained and reported.
Then, H.E. Union Minister inspected the construction status of the tunnel exit, the implementation status of the hydropower plant as well as per projects from the view point in the project area.
The Upper Yeywa Hydropower Project is a 280 MW power plant built on Dotehtawaddy River (Myitnge River), will generate 1409 Million kWh per year and aims to supply electricity across the country via national grid. The main dam to be built is roller-compacted concrete (RCC) type. The full storage capacity is 2.77 lakhs Acre-feet and 38.73 % of the project is finishing now. It is managing and operating to be finished 43 % of the project in September, 2019 and the whole project will be finished in 2021-2022. It is generating 790 MW from Yeywa Hydropower Plant built on Dotehtawaddy River (Myitnge River). In the future, it will be implemented Namtu (Hsipaw) project (210 MW), Middle Yeywa project (735 MW) and Deedoke project (60 MW).
