Chief Minister and Ministers for Shan State regarding Electricity and Energy

Sectors and inspects Kalaw Primary Substation.

          H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing for MOEE accompanied by Deputy Minister Dr.Tun Naing and Departmental Heads arrived Shan State  Government Office in Taunggyi, Shan State on 4 ^th March 2018 morning. Union Minister U Win Khaing negotiated with Chief Minister and Ministers for Shan State for cooperation in Electricity and Energy Sectors.

          In this meeting, Union Minister U Win Khaing said MOEE has more chance to discuss about electricity sectors to meet members of State/Region Government. On the other hand, State Region Government needs to chance to discuss difficulties and requirements for electricity sectors. On electricity sector, it was being undertaken into (3) parts that are (1) Generation, (2) Transmission from generation to consumers  in ways of not only cheap tariff rate but also lowest losses, (3) Distribution  to consumers with good qualities. MOEE can only generate 39% of electricity need at this moment. The current Electricity needs in Myanmar is 4800 MW but production is about 3200 MW. It will need additional 3000 MW in 2020-2021 fiscal year. MOEE has been striving its all of efforts in order to supply additional 3000 MW within coming 3 years.

          Besides, Plans are underway to systematically conduct  electricity using hydro, natural gas and renewable energy. Thus, It would be moderately supply the electricity needs within 2022-2023 year.

          It was being undertaken to change from Government sector to Private sector for LPG production development in cheaper price. Therefore, it can reduce electricity needs . 4 metering system will be used starting coming April, 2018.

          And then,  Dr . Lin Htut, Chief Minister for Shan State discussed to cooperate ongoing projects and coming electricity distribution projects with MOEE.

          Ministers, Members of Shan State Government discussed their responsibilities and Dr. Tun Naing , Deputy Minister briefed up electricity distribution in Shan State.

          Union Minister and party discussed with State/ District/ Township engineers in Shan State and Kayar State at Office of Taungyi, Southern Shan State.

          Union Minister and party inspect Kalaw primary Sub-station and new transformer construction in Switchyard.
