H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing for MOEE and Chief Minister for Rakhine State U Nyi Pu accompanied by Deputy Minister Dr. Tun Naing, Rakhine State Minister for Electricity, Industrial and Road Transport U Aung Kyaw Zan and responsible persons inspected construction situation of Thahtay HPP constructed by group No.(4) and which is situated on Thahtay Chaung, about 12 miles away from North-East of Thandwe, Thandwe District, Rakhine State on 5^th May,2018 in the afternoon.

     Firstly, Union Minister, Chief Minister and their companions inspected model project. Project Director U Aung Naing Tun presented salient features, construction status according to main works, and programme of work. U San Wai, Director General of DHPI was briefly added to his explanation. Union Minister instructed to carry out the construction work intime, to perform work  safety, to fulfill construction materials according to technical standard, to use electrical/ mechanical materials systematically and to take care of loss.

     And then, they inspected the completion of inlet of diversion tunnel No.(2) concreting work and gate shaft excavating work, the construction of diversion tunnel rock bolt and shotcreting work, outlet of diversion tunnel concerting work along the whole tunnel and the current status were presented by responsible persons.

     Union Minister, Chief Minister and his companions also inspected the completion of diversion tunnel No.(1) using vehicles.

     Then, they inspected the completion of diaphragm wall, main dam excavating work, the construction saturation as per project works and Union Minister gave necessary instruction.

     Thahtay HPP has been implementing to distribute more electricity, about average annual 386 million kwhrs to Rakhine State with the aim of distribution via national grid.

     Main Dam is zoned typed rock filled dam and full reservoir storage can store 6.96x10⁵ Acre-feet and the completion is about 47.77%.

     Union Minister, Chief Minister and his companions also inspected 66kV, 10MVA Nanchaung Substation in Thandwe on 6^th ,May 2018 in the morning.

     In briefing hall, Managing Director of ESE U Saw Win Maung explained about transmission and distribution status of substation, current situation of electricity usage and distribution in Rakhine State , the additional requirement of electricity which will be implemented for Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone and transportation and distribution of diesel. Deputy Minister Dr.Tun Naing made additional explanation and Union Minister and Chief Minister discussed about this project. Finally, Union Minister, Chief Minister and responsible persons inspected switchyard of substation.
