Launching Ceremony on Myanmar National Energy Statistics 2019 as per four year plan (2016-17 to 2019-20) of Myanmar Energy Statistics Development Programme conducting by Cooperation between OGPD, MOEE and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) was held at Park Royal Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw on 11.3.2019 at 09:00 hr.
Union Minister H.E. U Win Khaing for MOEE, responsible persons from relevant ministries, organizations, Professor Hidetoshi Nishimura, President, and members from ERIA were attended.
Firstly, Union Minister H.E. U Win Khaing delivered an address as follows:
Considering the State Projects to successfully implement as per time schedule depends on exact and strong statistics.
Comprehensive information takes a pivotal role for project implementation.
It is impossible to implement Schemes/Projects in timely without right information, so, it’s very difficult to conclude current situation.
Thus, state’s work mechanism will successfully operate if and only if we can collect statistics data in accord with transparency, responsibility and accountability.
Today, the aim of Myanmar’s energy sector is to increase state product sector and enhance state development by exploring and consuming reasonable primary energy resources.
Must provide adequate fully and stable power system for economic development.
Myanmar National Energy statistics is special requirement for laying-down energy policy and schemes.
To urge for cooperation between energy relevant ministries and ERIA for further development of future Myanma Energy Sector.
Thanking for technical and financial assistance to Japan Government and ERIA members.
According to the aim to develop equal firmed investment in ASEAN Member Countries in 2040, MOEE is continuously implementing for infrastructure development of electricity and energy sector.
MOEE has laid-down Energy Mixed Development Plan for exploration and using basic electricity and energy resources in accordance with Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan-MSDP.
Information is important criteria for Decision Making in enhancing investment.
Wish to assist by conducting technical training for government servant from ministry during project period.
Then, Professor Hidetoshi Nishimura, President from ERIA delivered an address.
After that, Assistant Director Daw Swe Swe Than from Oil and Gas Planning Department discussed and introduced Myanmar Energy Sector on statistics data followed by Ms. Cecilya Malik from ASEAN Energy analysed on energy requirement, and Mr.Shigeru, Special Advisor from ERIA, analysed of Demand and supply of Myanmar energy.
The aim of making National Energy Statistics is to draw Energy Balance Tables based on energy usage amount, renewable energy and primary energy resources which can supply the demand for considering MSDP, Electric Power Development Plan and safety and fully energy supply as per Energy Policy.
