Opening Ceremony  of Thaketa  Natural Gas Power Station

          The Opening Ceremony of Tharketa Natural Gas Power Station  was held at that Power Station in Thaketa Township, Yangon Region at  09:00 AM, 17 ^th march 2018.

          H.E. Union  Minister U Win Khaing for Ministry of Electricity and Energy, H.E. Union Minister U Kyaw Win for  Ministry of Planning and Finance, Deputy Minister  Dr. Tun Naing , Ministers for State/Region Government , U Naing Lin Myint , Vice Chairman of Yangon Region Hluttaw, Departmental Heads, Mr.Hong Liang, Chinese Ambassador for the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, personal concerned from UREC (Union Resources of Engineering Co., Ltd) and the guests were presented.

          H.E. Union Minister U Win Khaing said that Thaketa Power Station opened today was implemented by Joint Venture  system between MOEE and UREC. JVA (Joint Venture Agreement) was signed on 22-9-16 and MOEE can get 3% free share for these project. U Energy Co., will perform 30 years for generation and concession period, after that Thaketa power station would be transferred to MOEE.

          PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) was signed on January 2016 . These project started in May, 2016 and completed in February, 2018. Commercial operation date is 28-2-2018 and  the electricity is being supplying to National Grid.

          He said in present situation , total population of Myanmar is 53 Millions and nearly 6 Millions stay in Yangon Region and used 1360 MW among 3200 MW for nation wide demand. Thaketa Power Station, 106 MW, would generate 800 kWhrs per year.

          Besides, Myingyan Power Project (225) MW implementing by Sembcorp Company will be completed in May, 2018 and Thahtone Power Project (119)MW will be completed in June 2018. MOEE emphasizes to fulfill electricity across the nation.

          Union Minister U Kyaw Win for Ministry of Planning and Finance and Chinese Ambassador Mr. Hong Liang delivered the opening address.

          Mr. Feng Ke, Chairman of UREC presented introduction of video for construction process of Thaketa power station and Union Minister U Win Khaing gave the gift to the responsible persons of UREC.

          And then, Deputy Minister Dr. Tun Naing , Daw Nilar Kyaw , Minister for Yangon Region, U Khin Maung Win, Managing Director of EPGE, U Naing Lin Myint, vice chairman of Yangon Region Hluttaw, Dr. Wai Phyo Aung of Yangon Region Constituency (Thaketa Township) and the responsible persons from UREC cut the ribbon to open this ceremony and take a photo section.

          Union Minister U Win Khaing, Union Minister U Kyaw Lwin, Chinese Ambassador Mr. Hong Liang and Mr. Feng Ke, Chairman of UREC, opened the ceremony by switching on.
